Lessons from black hole quasinormal modes in modified gravity

چکیده

Quasinormal modes of perturbed black holes have recently gained much interest because their tight relations with the gravitational wave signals emitted during post-merger phase a binary hole coalescence. One intriguing features these is that they respect no-hair theorem, and hence, can be used to test space-times underlying theory. In this paper, we exhibit three different aspects how quasinormal could altered in theories beyond Einstein general relativity. These are direct alterations spectra as compared those relativity, violation geometric correspondence between high-frequency photon geodesics around hole, breaking isospectrality axial polar perturbations. Several examples will provided each individual case. The prospects possible challenges associated future observations also discussed.

Black Hole Determinants and Quasinormal Modes

We derive an expression for functional determinants in thermal spacetimes as a product over the corresponding quasinormal modes. As simple applications we give efficient computations of scalar determinants in thermal AdS, BTZ black hole and de Sitter spacetimes. We emphasize the conceptual utility of our formula for discussing ‘1/N ’ corrections to strongly coupled field theories via the hologr...

Asymptotic Quasinormal Modes of Gauss-Bonnet Black Hole in String Derived Gravity

We obtain an analytic expression for the highly damped asymptotic quasinormal mode frequencies in dimensions d ≥ 5 of the Gauss-Bonnet black hole, which appears in string derived models of gravity. The analytic expression is obtained in the limit when the coupling in front of the Gauss-Bonnet term is small. Although there are several similarities of this geometry with that of the Schwarzschild ...

2 00 5 Quasinormal modes of the charged black hole in Gauss - Bonnet gravity

The d-dimensional string generated gravity models lead to Einstein-Maxwell equations with quadratic order correction term called the Gauss-Bonnet term. We calculate the quasinormal modes for the d-dimensional charged black hole in the framework of this model. The quasinormal spectrum essentially depends upon the Gauss-Bonnet coupling parameter α which is related to the string scale, and is tota...
